Swiss Medtech Day 2020 - Kursaal Bern

Well-prepared and equipped with an appropriate hygiene concept, industry players, start-ups, researchers and investors from the Swiss medical technology sector gathered at the Kursaal Bern on Monday, September 21, 2020, to network and experience news and inspiration as part of the annual Swiss Medtech Day.

With four patent attorneys and a, after our change of name, brand new appearance under Keller Schneider we were allowed to be present as exhibitors. "In these difficult times, finally getting back into personal contact with clients and partners was a great feeling," explained Mirko Schade, one of our partners, who had traveled from Munich especially for the event.

The participants could expect a varied program with many interesting keynote speeches, smaller workshops and an exhibitor fair. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Medtech Award. The lucky winners: two start-ups from Western Switzerland who are revolutionizing the treatment of glaucoma with their eyeWatch system.

"As an exhibitor, the event was a complete success for us. We were able to have some very exciting and interesting conversations, and learn about the latest innovations on the market" said Mirko Schade. Overall, the size of the event, with just under 500 guests and only 50 exhibitors, was perfect for getting in touch with the right people.

Attendees were particularly interested in the pitfalls and complexities of patent applications in the medical field.  "Especially in the medtech sector, a very sophisticated patent strategy has to be worked out to avoid claim rejections. We have seen this time and again in our discussions at the show. Through our experience gained so far and some well-known references from the industry, we can perfectly support our clients and stand by them helpfully in order to keep the risk low" explains Schade.

We would like to thank you for an extremely successful event which we will most likely attend again next year.
